XIAOMI ROAD FC 043 INJURY UPDATE

KIM SEUNG-YEON BREAKS HAND, MARCIO CESAR REQUIRES STITCHES

Xiaomi ROAD FC 043 took place at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul, South Korea on October 28, 2017. Two fighters were injured and required immediate treatment, Kim Seung-Yeon and Marcio Cesar.

In a reserve match for the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament, Kim Seung-Yeon amped up his punching to counter a very tough Alexander Merezhko. Kim won the match with a second round TKO from punches, but his hand took some damage, and apparently it was early on.

Kim stated, “As soon as the first round started, I felt my thumb twist a little and I knew I broke it. My opponent also complained that he was injured during the match, but I fought with a broken finger. It will take some time until the next fight, but I will go do a mountain marathon, do push ups with my fingers, get stronger and then come back.”

Kim sustained a fracture at the base of his thumb which will need surgery to realign it. His recovery period will be about 3 months.

In the opening fight, Lee Jeong-Yeong brought a massive onslaught to Marcio Cesar which caused cuts to open up under Cesar's left eye and upper lip. Both were severe enough for the doctor and referee to end the fight.

“I got badly beat up in my ROAD FC debut. Thank you for the good opportunity and support. If I have another chance, I will show everyone a better fight.”

Cesar required numerous sutures under his left eye and his upper lip.
