Choi Hong-Man puts demons to rest, joins Openweight Tournament

17 November, 2015 - ROAD Fighting Championship will make an historic global expansion into China with ROAD FC 027 in Shanghai on 26 December, 2015.

Exciting developments on ROAD FC's further expansion will be announced tomorrow, 18 December, live from Beijing, China!

Recently on 13 November, a press conference was held with Korean MMA superstar Choi Hong-Man to publicly declare that his high profile financial issues were resolved and accounted for.  The "Techno Goliath" had a 6-year comeback brutally spoiled at ROAD FC 026 in Japan, after which he said that the stifling media accusations were a highly invasive and negative influence.

Following the cathartic press conference, Choi was enthusiastic and said he wanted to immediately resume his MMA career.

Therefore, Choi Hong-Man (35, Free) will be a competitor in the very first Openweight Tournament at December's ROAD FC 027 in China.

ROAD FC Representative Kwon Yeong-Bok stated:

"Choi Hong-Man's aggressiveness in seeking out participation in this tournament conveys his true intentions.  In this Openweight Tournament, Asian fighters are breaking the prejudice that the heavyweight division (in Asia) is weak.  This will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the possibilities for exciting matches from Asian heavyweight fighters."

Four tournament quarterfinal matches will take place during this event, including a veterans revenge rematch between victor Mighty Mo Siliga and vanquished Choi Mu-Bae; China's smothering prodigy Aorigele versus "Crying Fist" slugger Kim Jae-Hun; and Korea's kickboxing KO artist Myung Hyun-Man versus China's towering Liang Lingyu.

Also, China's top lightweight and UFC TUF China winner Zhang Lipeng will debut with ROAD FC against Korean Taekwondo master Hong Young-Ki in an action-packed style-versus-style match up.

Plus, China's "King of Sanda" Zhao Zilong will face Japanese legend Minowa Man in a match with global appeal and historical significance.

These matches and many more await fans of true Mixed Martial Arts sports entertainment at ROAD FC 027 in China on 26 December!
