Xiaomi ROAD FC 036 update: Leo Kuntz versus Hong Young-Ki set for International Trials for the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament “Road to A-Sol”
ROAD Fighting Championship announces the next match for Round 1 of the International Trials for the $1 Million Lightweight Tournament “Road to A-Sol”: Leo Kuntz versus Hong Young-Ki. Round 1 will take place at Xiaomi ROAD FC 036 on February 11, 2017 at the Jangchung Arena in Seoul, South Korea.
Leo Kuntz (17-3-1, American Top Team) is the Impact FC and XFC Champion. He rose to prominence with a stellar record of fight-finishing submissions and KOs which landed him on TUF Season 16 and then into the UFC. Most notable for Korean fans will be his back and forth nail-biter with Bang Tae-Hyun in UFC Seoul in which he lost a contentious split decision. Ironically, Kuntz is half Korean and has a background in Taekwondo.
Hong Young-Ki (3-3, Apgujeong Gym) is a National Taekwondo Champion who transitioned late to MMA. His story made him an instant hit when he competed in Korea's reality MMA TV show “Crying Fist”, which led to his professional career in MMA. Hong recently dropped losses to China's UFC veteran Zheng Lipeng and Japan UFC TUF veteran Hiroto Uesako, however he was implementing new grappling skills and game plans, so surely he will have grown from the experiences.
Leo Kuntz versus Hong Young-Ki promises to be a very technique-driven match, and it is inevitable that fans will get to see Taekwondo in MMA action!
